Open Trap Shooting
Open trap shooting is every Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm (last entries by 7:00 pm) year-round - rain, snow, or shine. Open trap shooting is open to the public, non club members welcome to join in on the fun! Come shoot under the lights during fall and winter months! We shoot singles targets, handicap targets, wobble targets, and doubles targets. Cost is $4.00 per round of 25 targets. Bring your own shotgun and shells. New in 2020, our right trap field is illuminated with four 500-Watt LED 70,000 Lumen LED Stadium Lights for better nighttime shooting!
Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) Events
Hallstead Great Bend Rod and Gun Association is the premiere ATA Trap shooting location in Northeastern Pennsylvania. We hold monthly ATA Shoots and hold ATA Big 50 Shoots every Wednesday Night in the months of March through October (No ATA Big 50 shoots the weeks of Pennsylvania State Shoot and New York State Shoot). We have thrown 51,900 ATA Registered targets in the 2020 target year, ranking us sixth in the state!
Hallstead Great Bend Rod and Gun Association has two fully certified ATA Trap Fields. Our trap fields have been laid out and certified by a Pennsylvania Licensed Professional Land Surveyor. White Flyer Orange Top pitch targets are thrown at all our ATA Events. Target heights are set with a T Bar to 9 ½ feet above trap arm height as measured from concrete height setting post ten yards from the trap. Target speeds are set with a Stalker Sport 2 Radar Gun. We proudly utilize 3S Shooting Sports Software to manage out ATA Trap Shoots along with the famous scrolling scoreboard!
ATA Trap Shoots
Hallstead Great Bend Rod and Gun Association holds monthly ATA Trap Shoots. Shoot dates are posted on our website in the monthly calendar section, on our Facebook Page, on the ATA website, and in the Trap and Field Magazine. The ATA Trap Shoots are typically three event shoots including 100 ATA Registered Singles Targets, 100 ATA Registered Handicap Targets, and 50 pair of ATA Registered Doubles Targets. Shoot programs may vary and are posted on our Facebook Page and on the ATA Website. ATA Shoots are open to the public; however, you must be an ATA Member to participate in these ATA Shoots. ATA Memberships/renewals are $20.00 and available the day of the shoot. A limited number of free ATA Memberships are available for first time ATA Members.
ATA Big 50 Trap Shoots
Hallstead Great Bend Rod and Gun Association holds ATA Big 50 Trap Shoots every Wednesday Night in the months of March through October (No ATA Big 50 shoots the weeks of Pennsylvania State Shoot and New York State Shoot). The ATA Big 50 Trap Shoots are typically three event shoots including 50 ATA Registered Singles Targets, 50 ATA Registered Handicap Targets, and 25 pair of ATA Registered Doubles Targets. ATA Big 50 Shoots are open to the public; however, you must be an ATA Member if you would like to register your targets. Non-ATA members are welcome to shoot for practice during an ATA Big 50 Shoot.
