Hallstead Great Bend Rod and Gun Association – Trap Program
Open Trap Shooting
Open trap shooting is every Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm (last entries by 7:00 pm) year-round - rain, snow, or shine. Open trap shooting is open to the public; non-club members welcome to join in on the fun! Come shoot under the lights during fall and winter months! We shoot singles targets, handicap targets, wobble targets, and doubles targets. Cost is $5.00 per round of 25 targets. Bring your own shotgun and shells. Contact Brian at (570) 780-7790 for further details or questions.
Our right trap field is illuminated with four 500-Watt 70,000 Lumen LED Stadium Lights for nighttime shooting! Wi-Fi cameras have been installed in our trap houses. With our “Trap Cams”, our trap staff keeps an eye on the traps for malfunctions and ensures we don’t run out of targets mid round!
Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) Events
Hallstead Great Bend Rod and Gun Association is the premiere ATA Trap shooting location in Northeastern Pennsylvania. We hold ATA Big 50 Shoots almost every Wednesday night during the months of March through October (No ATA Big 50 shoots the weeks of Pennsylvania State Shoot and New York State Shoot). We hold regular 100 Target ATA Shoots in the months of March, April, September, and October. We have thrown 48,300 ATA Registered targets in the 2022 target year, ranking us tenth in the state!
Hallstead Great Bend Rod and Gun Association has two fully certified ATA Trap Fields. Our trap fields have been laid out and certified by a Pennsylvania Licensed Professional Land Surveyor. White Flyer Orange Top pitch targets are thrown at all our ATA Events. Target heights are set with a T Bar to 9 ½ feet above trap arm height as measured from concrete height setting post ten yards from the trap. Target speeds are set with a Stalker Sport 2 Radar Gun. We proudly utilize 3S Shooting Sports Software to manage out ATA Trap Shoots along with the famous scrolling scoreboard!
